Toxic people are manipulative, controlling and abusive, emotionally immature, narcissistic, and bullies, amongst
other things.
They spread toxicity wherever they are, it could be in the
home, work, or even church.
They can hurt you emotionally, spiritually, and even your
physical wellbeing. When you are around them, you feel
anxious, and they will leave you feeling drained, and not
good about yourself.
They can even appear as good on the surface, but sooner or
later their true colors come out. They can be friends, neighbors, acquaintances, or even family members.
They never see themselves as the problem, it's always
someone else.
"How to deal with toxic people biblically"
1. Recognize the toxic behavior!
a. Recognize there is a problem.
b. Recognize how you feel around them.
2. Set Healthy Boundaries!
a. 1st talk to the person-let them know how their
behavior is making you feel.
b. Be firm-because they don't care about your
boundaries.
c. If they continue-distance yourself from them.
d. Sometimes it's even necessary to cut all ties
with them.
3. Forgive them, Pray for them and Hand them over
to God!
a. No matter who they are, or what title they
have in your life, doesn't give them the right to mistreat
you.
b. You are not to blame for their behavior, you can't fix
it, they need help you can't give.
c. You can't change them, only God can.
4. Seek Christian Counseling
a. If the situation is bad, seek professional help.
b. There are many trained professionals who can help
you deal with the situation, (ministers, christian counselors).
What does the bible say!
Romans 12:18 "We are to live in peace as far as it depends
on us. "if possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace
with everyone."
You can try to live in peace and harmony with a toxic person,
they don't see their behavior as the problem, so they will not
leave you in peace.
"Living in peace does not mean that you have to
keep exposing yourself to toxic people. You have the
right to live in peace.
As a Christian we are to forgive them, pray, and hand them
over to God, and move on, only God can change them.
